Ive been looking for new speakers for my Peavey Ms412 cab. Its a Front loaded closed back cab. Right now it is peavey 1290 speakers in it that arent good at all. Im looking for Speakers that have really nice tight bass but is also balenced. I play through a Peavey Vypyr Tube 60 i modded into a head. I Mostly play bands like Parkway Drive, Periphery, A day to remember And Escape The Fate. First i thought to get the veteran 30 and Et65 Combo in an X pattern then i saw alot of recomendations for the HM75 and Retro. What would be best in my situation?
That's what I use only I don't have the HM75. Have the Celestion G12T-75. Same general tone though with the HM's probably sounding a little better/warmer from what I've heard. Great combo for metal. I have two Retros on top and the 75's on bottom. Awesome mix of scooped mids and heavy bass and pronounced mids and highs. My cab is tight, chunky and has some great bite to it. You could go all HM's and get the sound you want but like for me, adding the Retros will give you the bite that will keep you from getting lost in the mix. They have some nice tight low end as well.
Recomendation for a darker heavy tone? Lot's of "Chugging" and single note riffing both palm muted and open. I hate piercing treble. I prefer it to blend and the Low end and Mids be dominant, then use my boost channel to add more treble if I need it. I like darker cleans too with lots of headroom. I have a Veteran 30 which I like. I have a Vintage 30 and I don't hate it but that mid spike..and fizz..I like mids, but I like to be able to EQ them out. Carvin V3 head. Both 6 string and 7-string. 7 string is heavy extended range rhythm only in standard with 7th dropped to A. 6 string Drop C,B,A,D and E standard tuning. Drop C is my go to. Orange 2×12. If anything The most neutral balanced pair so I can EQ what I want around my setup. This is my 1st 2×12 I have never ran a multi-speaker cab. My Vet And Vin are different impedence so I have not and cannot run them together to determine I would like it. I need a pair suggestion that does not have to include the Veteran 30 but I would prefer it to so I only have to buy 1 speaker.
