RE: Speakers for 2x12 Cab for Earl Greyhound Sound

Hi guys,

I play a VHT / Fryette Deliverance and need a 2x12 cab with wgs speakers for it. The amp is very dry, very little compression, very dynamic and marshallesque (JCM800ish with much more gain and depth control).

The Sound I am going for is Earl Greyhound (Tracks: Fashion, Two Weeks, It's Over). I also play some Van Halen and John Mayer stuff and therefore want good cleans. Soooooometimes I play metal but only for fun and that is not priority

I can choose how the cab is going to be; vertical, non-vertical, slant or not slant etc. Any suggestions? I kind of flirt with open back cabinets although I always thought closed back makes more sense for me.

Of course the cab should cut through well :)

Combos I thought about:

ET-65 and Invader

ET-65 and Reaper

Invader and Reaper

Invader and British Lead (not enough highs?)

Go semi-open, with a large oval port and ... Invader and Reaper HP
