Hey- Just picked up a mid to late 90s Super Tramp 1x12 combo. It's 100% solid state and runs 80 watts rms and 110 peak. It sounds great (clean, bright and articulate) but lacks some ooomph.
It has a Celestion G12t-60 which was "custom made for Trace Elliot" but looks dead like a G12t-75, label scheme and all. Maybe just a 60-watt version. Anyway, it is SUPER bright in mids and highs but not very robust in the bottom end- even with the bass pots turned all the way up. It just lacks a depth and resonance in the lows.
I rather like the clear and bright mids and highs but need to beef up the low end. I understand the G12t-75s are great for lead and typically used in 4x12 closed-back cabs where I can see they might sound fuller as a gang and bassier in a closed back cab but just a single one of these in an open back small cab doesn't sound right to me.
I play mostly blues and classic rock (Allman Brothers, Stones, Zeppelin, etc.).
I like clean headroom in a speaker too.
Your suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks.
