I am looking to replace the speakers in my oversized 2x12 marshall cab. I play my Suhr badger 35 through it. I'ts loaded with vintage 30 celestions and i find them very sharp, alost piercing at times.
I was wondering about maybe a mix of et65(my personal favorite all around speaker) and a retro 30. Or one of the reapers, or invader speakers. I also use my Suhr pt-50 through this cab on occasion, but mostly the badger 35. Basically, i would like something versitle.
Yes ... we perform vintage 30 induced ice-pick removal surgeries all the time!
For the TOTAL removal ... pair a Reaper (or Reaper HP) with your ET65. If you would like to still have a good bit of brightness on-tap then go with the ET65/Ret 30 pair ... or ET90/Ret 30.
I'll also mention that I have a 2x12 Bassman cab loaded with a Reaper and a Reaper 55 ... I'm using it with classic Fenders that have plenty of top-end available (Bassman & Bandmaster) ... and it's been amazingly versatile.
