Hello
I recently came across an unbelievable deal on an Egnator Rebel 30 head, so I find myself in heed of a cab. But wow the prices! A speaker cab is just a box with a speaker in it, right? I have a modicum of woodworking and electronic skills, so off I go on a cab-building adventure. But first, I have questions.
1. First of all, what speakers? I plan on building 2 1x12 cabinets. Two of the same or different? The speaker that Egnator specs in their cabinet is the Celestion Elite 80. What would be a good substitute? I am looking for a good mix of tones for blues and classic rock. Specifically, the tones I am looking for:
a warm, creamy clean tone with lots of headroom
a B.B. King tone
a chimey 50's Rock tone, like Chuck Berry in Johnny B. Goode
early ZZ Top, like 'Tush'
classic rock, like AC-DC's Highway to Hell, Thorogood's Bad to the Bone
early Judas Priest, like Breaking the Law or Living After Midnight
2. How big should I make the cabinet? Should I match the dimensions of Egnator's cabinet or should I design it to match the speakers that I will be getting? And what would that be?
Thank you very much for input.
