RE: Randall RG1503 212

I have a Randall RG1503 212 150 watt combo amp (closed back).  I play a 7 string with EMG 707's, mainly in drop G.  The current speakers have honky sounding mids, and really shrill/ear piercing highs. I can remedy this to a certain extent with a MXR 10 band EQ, but I would like to go ahead and upgrade the speakers.

Can you recommend a speaker, or speaker combo that would fix this? HM75, Vet30 or Retro 30?  Maybe a combination of two of them?

If I had to compare the sound I'm looking for to other bands, it would be Whitechapel, Impending Doom, The Acacia Strain, Black Tongue....

Yep ... just outfitted one of them with an HM75 & a Britt Lead ... that's EXACTLY what you are looking for ... go for it!

I like playing most everything except the newer way drop tune 7/8 string stuff. What speakers pair well with the RG1503-212? I'm partial to 80's metal and hair metal. Also, do you think it sounds close to the rg100es' of old?
