I have a reissue Jensen C12R in a VHT Special 12/20, I like the way it sounds overall, and I like the fact that it breaks up, although when it does it has a slightly overbearing bass fuzz thing.
Overall, how might the WGS G12Q compare? I note that it has a bigger magnet and is a good 4dB louder.
Thanks.
Hummm ... not sure, really ... as I have not compared them directly ... I know that as a general rule, I don't like the new Jensen re-issues, as they tend to sound stiff & sterile ... and as you say, don't push into overload well.
NONE(!) of those things can be said about the G12Q ... so it would be quite different ...
Thanks Vaughn, I appreciate your reply, nice to talk to the man himself.
I might go ahead and get one, and maybe a second one for an extension cab. Do you think I'd get away with a pair of them if I bumped the amp up to 20 Watts. Maybe I should even go with the G12C, for the sake of versatility, although I know lots of guys would say something like the ET65 would be more balanced. Anyway, I appreciate the input. Thanks again...
Thanks Vaughn, nice to get a reply from the man himself. I think I'll give one of these a shot, and maybe put a second one in an extension for when I want to bump up to 20 Watts. Can I confirm what the spl rating is? Tone chart says 95DB, speaker spec says almost 98DB
. Thanks again man.
Hummm ... probably best to contact someone at the factory, I'd say Wayne is the best bet: wayne@wgs4.com or Trevor@wgs4.com
Thanks Vaughn, I'll try that. All the best.
