RE: G12A in Princeton Reverb circuit

Hello, all.  First post in here.  I have a Gries 12 (princeton reverb circuit) that has the stock Eminence Screamin' Eagle in it.  I play a tele with nocaster pickups.  Only pedals are a klon circuit and a carbon copy.  Love the base tone of the amp, but I really don't jive with the speaker.  Granted, it hasn't been fully broken in, but it's loud (efficient) and just doesn't seem to have much character.  I have loved the WGS speakers I've owned in the past (Reaper, Black and Blue, V30), but i've never ventured into the American side of the pond.

G12A, G12C/s, and the Black and Blue are my front runners at the moment, which means I'm all over the board and need help.  Heard nothing but good about the C/S in princetons.  I have loved blues in pretty much everything, but I'm not sure how british with jive with the princeton, and I really want something less efficient because I am playing mostly at home.  The G12A has my attention because I prefer the feel of alnico and it's less effiecient.  That said, I can't find any clips/opinions about 1) whether it is too bright in a princeton reverb and 2) whether the low end holds up well.

Any experience from anyone?  I appreciate any thoughts/advice!

The G12A's bottom end will CERTAINLY hold up well!!!

Too bright?  Hummm .... depends on your ear & preferences.  I'd tend to say no.  However, I'll also say that my number one choice for you would be the VERY warm & juicy G12A/S ... or maybe even better yet, the Blackhawk Alnico, which has a much bigger and stronger bottom than the BnB.

G12A/S?  Interesting.  I assume that's a smooth cone version of the G12A.  Is that a custom order?  I'll have to look at the Blackhawk more.  I've read a lot of folks liking Celestion Golds in princetons, and that would obviously get me there.  Again, efficiency has been a main "concern," but in at some point making a decision based on 2db diff in sensitivity at a set frequency doesn't make too much sense.

Thanks for the advice, Vaughn!
