RE: Fender Sidekick Reverb 35 speaker upgrade

What speaker would be best for an upgrade if I'm looking for mostly clean tones ?

Not familar with that amp ... tell me more about it ...

These are a series of MIJ SS amps made in the 80's. They were supposed to be great for clean tones with a decent reverb and a horrible OD channel. They came in 15, 25, 35 and 65 watt versions. I have the 35 and 65 and wanted to know what would be a good upgrade. I plan on using these for mostly jazz and blues.

Sorry forgot to mention, it has a single 12" speaker

Okay ... the two that come to mind are the ET65 and G12C/S ... both warm speakers that are full, balanced and stay clean nicely.

Of the two, the ET is a little more well balanced overall (in my opinion), and the G12C/S is a bit more efficient (louder) and a bit more vintage/smokey sounding.

Come back here and let us know what you choose and how it works, please!

Thank you for the info

I think I'm going to go with a G12C in the 65 watt and a ET65 in the 35 watt. Does that sound like a good idea ?

The G12C ... the regular ribbed-cone version ... is a pretty darn bright speaker ... usually works best for a dark amp, or for someone who wants maximum Fender spank and sparkle.  The smooth version is quite a bit warmer.
