RE: Et90 pairing w/ D-style bluesmaster

Hi there,

I've got a ceriatone bluesmaster 50. Just finished building my cabs, including two 1x12 oval back speaker cabs  (d-style, 20x20x12.75).

I bought an et90 for one, and an emi red white & blues for the other.

I'm not much of a story teller, so I'll get to it. The rwb sounds like a pile of crap next to the et90, and I don't think they sound good together either (the rwb just brings the et90 down).

So now I want to sell it and replace it with something else. Any suggestions?

Yea ... speakers like the Emi RWB are super mass-produced and can never hold a candle to the "boutique" WGS build quality.  If they were stupidly cheap I might understand why people continue to buy them ... oh well ... good marketing, I guess ...

Anyhoo ... another ET90 is always a good option ... also ...

An ET-65 will add a bit more organic warm, woody, juiciness

A G12C/S will REALLY darken/thicken

A Retro 30 will fill out the top & bottom with more sparkle & punch

Please post back here with your choice and the results :-)

Retro30 just came in (very happy with new Canadian dealer btw).

Love it!  Can't wait to get home from work to keep playing!

Thanks Vaughn, keep up the good work sir!

Sorry, I need to add more.

After playing a bit more, I feel this speaker is the perfect compliment to the ET90.

Before I built my cabinets, I was playing my amp through a Hot Rod Deluxe with stock speaker.  I liked the "fendery" feel, but didn't like the flabby bass and ice pick highs.

I love the ET90 for jazzy/blues stuff, but the Retro30 brings back some of that sparkley fender tone, without the flab.  Together, they're just great!

I can't recommend this combo enough.
