RE: Black and Blue or Blackhawk in PRRI

Hi,

looking for a 12" speaker for my Princeton Reissue. What I liked about both these speakers is that they seem similar but a touch less trebly than a Cel. Blue or Gold (that true?). What I am after is to retain that PR sweetness when playing at low levels clean but also being able to (almost) crank it, let's say up to Vol 7/8, but mostly around 6 when rehearsing.

Will the B&B still produce good bass or does it fart out at some point in a 15W amp? Or should I go Blackhawk? And if so, think this one will perform sensibly on lover volumes? I do like upper mid/treble 'shimmer' but harsh treble in dirtier territory poops my party.

cheers

kai

Just did a blog that should answer this question!

The Blackhawk is a bit warmer ... but both will take the PRRI without farting out.  If it were me, I'd go Blackhawk.

Bingo. Ordered a BlackHawk. Thanks Vaughn.
