RE: "big sound, with good definition"

Hi All:

I posted this on Gear Page--so some of them directed me here :)

One suggestion has been:

WGS ET-65 and Retro 30

(and my guess of liberator and invader)

Versatility is probably quite important to me. Note that at most a 100W head will be going into this, so certainly need a total of over 100W capacity for the speakers.

Here is an edit of that post:

Hi All

http://wgs4.com/liberator-80-80-watts

http://wgs4.com/invader-50-50-watts

I am thinking of marrying these two up in a 2 x 12 open back cab

Has anyone had experience with a set up like this?

Situation:

I play in a noisey punkish band (but with other influences, definitely not mainstream). I am now the only guitarist with the previous lead guitarist becoming the bassist (he's a good musician).

Currently, I play through a Fender Prosonic into a Fender Supersonic 2x12 closed back vintage 30s cab + Marshall 2061x 20W Lead/Bass head into a Marshall 4x10 cab (closed back, original Celestions that sucker had spec'd).

I variously and in combination use Fuzz War or Frederick Effects Harmonic Perc clone into the Marshall, and Dunlop 78 Badass Distortion into the Fender--BUT that's running Fender is Class A on clean channel.

For live playing I probably will just use the Dumble clone + Fuzz War or Harmonic Perc . .. depending on song/style.

I am thinking of having a 2 x 12 cab made up, but one of those mostly vertical ones with an open back, where the speakers are set diagonally (so not as tall as turning my other 2 x 12 on its side).

I'd like to try WGS speakers, due to better price points here and good quality from what I can gather. I want big sound, with good definition. Worth noting that I also have a Marshall 1960A cab which I keep at home for the time being.

A lot of this is subjective, but fun to think about and plan out nonetheless.

Any advice or help appreciated.

Cheers,

Bender

Man, for me that's the ET-90 & Retro 30 ... used to be the ET-65 & the Ret, but now that we offer the ET-90, I REALLY dig it's pairing with the Ret 30 ... "big sound, with good definition" ... yea, ET-90/Ret 30 is EXACTLY that.  Go for it !
