I have a 1968 fender super reverb with re-issue jensen in it (2x P10Q and 2xC10Q).
I mainly play the amp loud and overdriven/edge of break up (around 7 on the volume dial). I like the sound, but i think it can be better. The mix that i am thinking about is:
2x WGS G10C/S on the bottom side
2x WGS veteran 10's on the top
or:
4x WGS veteran 10's
I have read good reviews about the veteran 10's and their sound when overdriving the amp. But i also like a thick huge bottom end with the strat since i am playing with only a drummer and a bass player. and I think that the top end is little bit brittle now. Will that be fixed with these speakers? Can u give me some advice? It will be highly appreciated!
I had indeed read the Blog you posted and that made me doubt my mind.
At first i just wanted 4x vet 10's to sound as close to the originals as possible. But then i thought that a big fat bottom end would also be nice (think philip sayce). That's why i thought of putting a couple of G10CS's on the bottom and a pair of vet 10's on top.
When using the vet 10's on top, which pair of G10's would complement the sound best? The G10C or the G10CS? Or would you suggest just using four vet 10's?
Thanks for the advice! If you could answer this last question i can do my purchase.
