Hello Vaughn,
Love your Youtube demos and reviews!! I have bought two WGS speakers because of your efforts. Please read my frustration below:
Hello there, about 3 months ago I purchased my 2nd WGS speaker. The first was the 12" ET65 which, although British voiced, I put in my vintage 65 Fender Deluxe. I was pretty happy with it, it replaced an EV that I had in it for 15 years. I also gig with a Vox AC 15 and I'm not a big fan of the Celestions or Blue Alnico's or Wharfdales that come stock in the AC15 so I decided to try the ET65 in the Vox as it is a British voiced speaker. I really like it in the VOX. In order to replace the Fender Deluxe I chose the G12 C/S based on it's description and the fact that it's American voiced and seemed a good fit for the Fender. After about 40 or 50 gigs, I'm not quite sure about this speaker. To my ear it seems a bit boxy and brittle in the high end, which Fenders have a problem with any way. It's SUPER Clean and tight, too much I think. Perhaps this is due to being a 75 watt speaker?? I thought the speaker would warm up the Fender and soften the ice pick but not so much? The low end is super tight and clean with more headroom than the EV had or the ET 65 but I'm struggling with it, especially with the Strat. I'm looking for any thoughts or recommendations in regards to my frustration with this purchase.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration,
Sincerely,
Chris Fitz
