I'm thinking of changing the stock "VHT Chromeback" in my VHT 1X12 combo. I have a 335 clone with low-output humbuckers, and I play entirely clean blues.
The amp sounds very good. The only thing wrong is that the tone is not very (don't know the right word) complex (?) rich (?). I don't want anything jangly or sharp/piercing, which is sometimes what people mean by "chime" I think. Just a little bit of added interest, if possible.
Who I would sound like if I were 10,000 better: Otis Rush, the three Kings, etc. Otis Rush sometimes used mini-humbuckers to get a tone that I like (although, obviously, no speaker is going to turn my humbuckers into minis -- I mention this only as a reference).
