What speakers should i get in relation to my set up and style of my band.

 

Setup

Amp: 60's Blackface fender bassman head 50 Watts

Cabinet: 2x12 closed back, custom built soild pine

Pickups: Humbuckers

Pedals: Overdriven Bigmuff Pi

Tunings: D (one whole stepdown) Drop C 

 

Band style:

Dont let the tuning fool you we are not a heavy metal band. More of a heavy hard rock band. Think, QOTSA meets Tool meets smashing pumpkins. Looking for a baseball bat to the face of a bottom end. Heavy but not a metallic metal sound. Nice warm cleans with a little sparkle. what would be the best speakers to pair?

 

I was thinking Green Beret and a vet 30. Could the GB handle the lowes without sounding like mud?

Green Beret and a Et65. Would this be too middy?

Ok so after doing some more reseach I think I'm going to go with a 50 watt Reaper and Retro 30. Seem like it will be the perfect combination of hammer and nail. I'll let you know how it goes.

Yes, I think you will be pleased with the Reaper HP/Ret 30 combo ... "the perfect combination of hammer and nail" describes that combo perfectly.  The only other thing I would suggest you consider is the ET65/Ret 30 combo, overall, that combo is just a little smoother and sweeter on the top end ... but not quite as loud as the Reaper/Ret 30 combo.
