40W Pro Reverb silverface

The original Utah speakers in my pro reverb seem harsh compared to the alnico speakers in my 45W super reverb.  What do you recommend to replace the Utahs?

Get a pair of ET65s!  DONE!!

Based on the description of the ET65 it is what I am looking for but, after reading this forum I was leaning toward the G12 C/S.

i was in Dallas at the guitar show last weekend and a guy had a Pro with a G12C and G12CS that sounded killer!  Warm and huge but with that Fender sparkle from the C. I have a friend in Nashville that uses a pair of G12C's in his Pro that sounds great, classic Fender all the way IMO.

Dean

Yes ... the combo of one smooth-cone and one ribbed-cone G12 that Dean mentioned would be a good choice ... but ... two smooth-cone G12C/S would be VERY dark/warm!

Hello I just replaced the old and tired 66 Jensen vibrantos in my pro reverb. (Original Jensen's were swapped out years ago before I owned the amp) I decided to go with one wgs g12c and one smooth cone. They sound fantastic together but am a bit confused. These speakers are 100x louder than the old Jensen's almost unbearable at volume 5, even as loud if not louder than a 65 twin I used to have. Almost doesn't seem right.. hoping I did everything right. Ordered two speakers both 8 ohm 75 watts. Thank you for your time.

Yes ... you did everything right.  They are just that much more efficient than the old Jensens!  And yes, a Pro with those speakers really IS louder than a Twin with stock Jensen, Oxford, or Utah speakers!
