why not stay with the G10

Hello,

I'm Maurice from Holland and I'm new to this forum. I am a huge fan of your speakers and have two cabs loaded with them.

I am currently looking for some new speakers in my Fender, I think I would like to mix 2x WGS G10C or C/S with 2 celestion alnico golds.

I play a super reverb from 1965 that currently has Jensen reissue P10Q's and C10Q's. I am looking to make the amp cut through the mix a bit better and just thicken up the tone a bit, add some depth to the sound and make it more "complex" and especially fuller sounding.
I was wondering if you think 2x WGS G10C would be a good combination with 2x Celestion gold 10 Inch in my amp?
Also if this is a good combination, would you recommend the G10C's or G10C/S' to go with the Alnico gold 10's?

Also I was wondering how you measure the speaker's sensitivity? 1 watt at 1 meter or at 1 foot?
Do you think the G10C and alnico gold combo is also good when looking at sensitivity (I know celestion rates the gold 10" at 98 dB at 1 watt, 1 meter away)
Thanks in advance. I'm looking forward to your reply so I can make my purchase :)

Hi Maurice,

if you like to mix the alnico chime with ceramic punch, why not stay in the wgs line? The g10a and g10c are closer in their spl than they are to the golds. I never played the g10a, but the g10c is more than just convincing. I guess it would be a fantastic match and both are easily available here in europe. (and the g10a is the same pricerange as the cel. gold)

just my 2cents

Hey!  Sorry I missed this thread...

Here's my suggestion:  Buy TWO G10C's and pair them with the pair of Re-issue P10Q's Jensens already in your amp.  That pairing is actually VERY NICE!!!   The HUGE sound of the G10s mixes well with the extra bright and stiff Jensen's.

Then ... if you want to at a later date, replace the Jensens with G10As ... but I bet you won't want or need to :-)

There ... I just saved you some money!
