I love the sound of Black and Blue for an 18 watter (2x12). I need a 2x12 for my BF Showman head. I want the same sound as the B and B but more watts. Can anyone verify? I have heard 2 conflicting reports, one saying the Blackhawk has more bass less treble (I can live with that), the other saying it has more treble less bass (I can't live with that!).
I just finished doing a BUNCH of comparison demos between the BnB & the Blackhawk. I plan to post the vids in a couple of weeks ... But I'll go ahead & give ya the skinny:
They sound VERY(!!) similar. The Blackhawk, of course, has a later breakup. The blackhawk is also just a LITTLE warmer, with a BIT more bottom, and a BIT less chime.
The ONLY difference between the two is the Blackhawk has a Voice-Coil wound on a Kapton former, vs the vintage paper former in the BnB ... for more on this, see my blog:
I hope it includes a cleanish, no pedals sound. There are lots of vids out there of speaker comparos that are too distorted or processed to guage what the speaker sounds like. Look forward to it mate!
